THE NEW FALL DRAMAS:

CODE BLACK, based on the award-winning documentary by Ryan McGarry, is a heart-pounding medical drama that takes place in the busiest, most notorious ER in the nation, where the staggering influx of patients can outweigh the limited resources available to the extraordinary doctors and nurses whose job is to treat them all – creating a condition known as Code Black. At the heart of the ER’s controlled chaos is Residency Director Dr. Leanne Rorish (Academy Award winner Marcia Gay Harden), renowned for successfully performing high-risk procedures in Center Stage, the trauma area reserved for the most critical cases. Her four new first-year residents are Christa Lorenson (Bonnie Somerville), Malaya Pineda (Melanie Kannokada), Mario Savetti (Benjamin Hollingsworth) and Angus Leighton (Harry M. Ford). Leanne’s confidante, Jesse Sallander (Luis Guzman), is an amiable seen-it-all senior nurse who manages the residents. Also working in the ER is Dr. Neal Hudson (Raza Jaffrey), an excellent physician who sometimes disagrees with Leanne’s “cowboy” approach, and Dr. Rollie Guthrie (William Allen Young), the energetic, longest-serving attending. In Center Stage, life is measured in seconds, and these heroic doctors and nurses operate with speed and skill within an overwhelmed system to treat the crowds of people who are often there for one of two reasons: to die or to receive a life-saving miracle. Michael Seitzman, Marti Noxon, Linda Goldstein-Knowlton, Ryan McGarry and David Semel are executive producers for ABC Studios in association with CBS Television Studios. The pilot was directed by David Semel (“Madam Secretary”).

LIMITLESS, based on the feature film, is a fast-paced drama about Brian Finch (Jake McDorman), who discovers the brain-boosting power of the mysterious drug NZT and is coerced by the FBI into using his extraordinary cognitive abilities to solve complex cases for them. Working closely with Brian in the major case squad in New York City is Special Agent Rebecca Harris (Jennifer Carpenter), a formidable investigator with a dark past, and Special Agent Boyle (Hill Harper), a former military officer and Rebecca’s confidante. They report to Special Agent in Charge Nasreen “Naz” Pouran (Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio), a canny manipulator of the reins of power. Unbeknownst to the FBI, Brian also has a clandestine relationship with Senator Edward Mora (Academy Award nominee Bradley Cooper, recurring), a presidential hopeful and regular user of NZT who has plans of his own for his new protégé. Fueled now with a steady supply of NZT that enables him to use 100% of his brain capacity, Brian is more effective than all of the FBI agents combined, making him a criminal’s worst nightmare and the greatest asset the Bureau has ever possessed. Craig Sweeny, Marc Webb, Alex Kurtzman, Roberto Orci, Heather Kadin, Bradley Cooper, Todd Phillips, Ryan Kavanaugh, Tucker Tooley and Tom Forman are executive producers for CBS Television Studios in association with K/O Paper Products and Relativity Television. The pilot was directed by Marc Webb (“The Amazing Spider-Man” 1 and 2 Feature Films).

SUPERGIRL is an action-adventure drama based on the DC Comics character Kara Zor-El (Melissa Benoist), Superman’s (Kal-El) cousin who, after 12 years of keeping her powers a secret on Earth, decides to finally embrace her superhuman abilities and be the hero she was always meant to be. Twelve-year-old Kara escaped the doomed planet Krypton with her parents’ help at the same time as the infant Kal-El. Protected and raised on Earth by her foster family, the Danvers, Kara grew up in the shadow of her foster sister, Alex (Chyler Leigh), and learned to conceal the phenomenal powers she shares with her famous cousin in order to keep her identity a secret. Years later at 24, Kara lives in National City assisting media mogul and fierce taskmaster Cat Grant (Golden Globe Award winner Calista Flockhart), who just hired the Daily Planet’s former photographer, James Olsen (Mehcad Brooks), as her new art director. However, Kara’s days of keeping her talents a secret are over when Hank Henshaw (David Harewood), head of a super-secret agency where her sister also works, enlists her to help them protect the citizens of National City from sinister threats. Though Kara will need to find a way to manage her newfound empowerment with her very human relationships, her heart soars as she takes to the skies as Supergirl to fight crime. Greg Berlanti (“The Flash,” “Arrow”), Ali Adler, Sarah Schecter and Andrew Kreisberg are executive producers for Berlanti Productions in association with Warner Bros. Television. The pilot was directed by Glen Winter (“Arrow”).

THE NEW FALL COMEDIES:

ANGEL FROM HELL stars Golden Globe and multiple Emmy Award winner Jane Lynch in a single-camera comedy about Amy (Lynch), a colorful, brassy woman who insinuates herself into Allison’s (Maggie Lawson) organized and seemingly perfect life, claiming to be her “guardian angel.” Allison is an intense, driven doctor who is sure that Amy is just an inebriated, outspoken nut, until every one of her warnings proves true. Cautioned by Amy not tell anyone about her, Allison can’t discuss this over-the-top oddball with her father and business partner, Marv (Kevin Pollak), a sunburned dermatologist who shares an office with Allison, or her younger brother, Brad (Kyle Bornheimer), a pharmaceutical sales rep who lives over her garage. As Allison tries to push Amy away, Amy makes her final pitch: her sole mission is to provide Allison with helpful guidance that nudges her in the right direction in life – and it’s her final chance to prove herself as an angel. With that, Allison agrees to this unlikely relationship because maybe a weird friend is exactly what she needs… and what if Amy really is her “guardian angel”? Tad Quill and Emmy Award winner Don Scardino (“30 Rock”) are executive producers for CBS Television Studios. The pilot was directed by Don Scardino.

LIFE IN PIECES is a single-camera comedy about one big happy family and their sometimes awkward, often hilarious and ultimately beautiful milestone moments as told by its various members. Of the three siblings, middle child Matt (Thomas Sadoski) may have just found his true love, his co-worker, Colleen (Angelique Cabral); his coddled youngest brother, Greg (Golden Globe and Emmy Award nominee Colin Hanks), and his wife, Jen (Zoe Lister Jones), are overwhelmed by the birth of their first child; and the eldest, Heather (Betsy Brandt), and her husband, Tim (Dan Bakkedahl), are dreading their impending empty nest so much, they’re considering having another baby. Their parents are Joan (Academy, Golden Globe and Emmy Award winner Dianne Wiest), the family’s adoring matriarch who would do anything for her kids – as long as she agrees with it – and John (Golden Globe and Emmy Award winner James Brolin), the gregarious patriarch who’s searching for ways to soften the blow of turning 70. As the family’s lives unfold in four short stories each week, they try to savor these little pieces of time that flash by but stay with you forever, because these moments add up to what life’s all about. Niall Cunningham, Holly J. Barrett and Giselle Eisenberg also star. Justin Adler, Emmy Award winner Jason Winer (“Modern Family”) and Aaron Kaplan are executive producers for 20th Century Fox Television in association with Kapital Entertainment. The pilot was directed by Jason Winer.

NEW SERIES FOR LATER THIS SEASON:

CRIMINAL MINDS: BEYOND BORDERS (Spinoff) stars Golden Globe and Emmy Award winner Gary Sinise in a drama about the specialized International Division of the FBI tasked with solving crimes and coming to the rescue of Americans who find themselves in danger while abroad. Heading the department is Unit Chief Jack Garrett (Sinise), a seasoned 20-year veteran of the Bureau. The team he trusts with his life includes Matthew Simmons (Daniel Henney), a former military hero with split-second profiling skills he honed on the battlefield, and Russ “Monty” Montgomery (Tyler James Williams), the unit’s compassionate, brilliant tech analyst who additionally liaises stateside with the families of those in trouble while his group is far from home. These exceptional agents are dedicated to safely returning U.S. residents home by profiling and identifying criminals who are beyond our borders. The pilot was a planted spin-off of an episode of CRIMINAL MINDS broadcast on April 8, 2015. Emmy Award winner Mark Gordon, Erica Messer and Nick Pepper are executive producers for ABC Studios in association with CBS Television Studios and The Mark Gordon Company. The episode was directed by Glen Kershaw (“Criminal Minds”).

RUSH HOUR, a reimagining of the hit feature film franchise, is a buddy-cop drama about a maverick LAPD detective and a by-the-book detective from Hong Kong who knock heads when they are forced to partner together. Detective Lee (Jon Foo) is a reserved, honorable master martial artist with lightning-fast moves who comes to L.A. to avenge his sister’s alleged death and learn more about her connection to a Chinese organized crime ring. Detective Carter (Justin Hires), on the other hand, is a wisecracking cop who plays by his own rules and has never wanted a partner. As exasperated as Carter’s boss, Captain Cole (Golden Globe and Emmy Award nominee Wendie Malick), gets with him, she knows he’s a brilliant detective who gets results. Attempting to help the two get along is Sergeant Didi Diaz (Aimee Garcia), Carter’s friend and former partner who doesn’t hesitate to call him out on his antics. But even as cultures clash and tempers flare, Carter and Lee can’t deny they make a formidable team, and grudgingly admit that sometimes an unlikely pairing makes for a great partnership. Bill Lawrence, Blake McCormick, Jeff Ingold, Jon Turteltaub and the team behind the “Rush Hour” movies, Arthur Sarkissian and Brett Ratner, are executive producers for Warner Bros. Television. The pilot was directed by Jon Turteltaub.

8:00-9:00 P.M. “CRAZY EX-GIRLFRIEND”

Rebecca Bunch (Rachel Bloom) is a successful, driven, and possibly crazy young woman who impulsively gives up everything – her partnership at a prestigious law firm and her upscale apartment in Manhattan – in a desperate attempt to find love and happiness in that exotic hotbed of romance and adventure: suburban West Covina, Calif. (it’s only two hours from the beach! Four in traffic). From CBS Television Studios, CRAZY EX-GIRLFRIEND stars Rachel Bloom (“Robot Chicken”), who also serves as executive producer along with Aline Brosh McKenna (“The Devil Wears Prada”); and Marc Webb (“500 Days of Summer,” “The Amazing Spider-Man” films).

9:00-10:00 P.M. “JANE THE VIRGIN”

Jane Villanueva (Gina Rodriguez) has always lived by the rules. She is studying to become a teacher, working her way through school by waitressing at a hot Miami hotel, and she has never forgotten the lesson her grandmother Alba (Ivonne Coll) taught her long ago about the importance of saving herself for marriage. But when Jane was accidentally artificially inseminated (!) her life became as dramatic and outrageous as the telenovelas she grew up watching. Adding to the drama, the donor is reformed playboy Rafael Solano (Justin Baldoni), the owner of the hotel where Jane works, and her teenage crush.  Although Jane is engaged to her long-time love, Michael (Brett Dier), a detective with the Miami Police Department, and Rafael is married to the scheming Petra (Yael Grobglas), she and Rafael are drawn closer by the pregnancy and begin to fall for each other. The tension proves too much for Jane and Michael, and they call off their engagement… and Jane and Rafael begin seeing each other.  But happily ever after is interrupted by murder and mayhem, by scheming exes and maniacal criminal masterminds. Oh, and then there’s the fact that Jane learns her long lost father is Rogelio De La Vega (Jaime Camill), her favorite telenovela star!  And now he’s back in her life… with a vengeance.  But amidst all the crazy, there are the Villaneuva women – Jane, her mother Xiomara (Andrea Navedo), and her grandmother, Alba, who band together to support each other always, no matter the twists and turns thrown their way.  And ultimately, Jane gives birth and a new Villanueva enters the world.  And believe it or not… the drama is just getting started. JANE THE VIRGIN is produced by CBS Television Studios and Warner Bros. Television, in association with Electus, with executive producers Jennie Snyder Urman (“Emily Owens, M.D.”), Ben Silverman (“The Biggest Loser”), Gary Pearl (“10.5: Apocalypse”) and Jorge Granier (“Que el Cielo Me Explique”).

TUESDAY

8:00-9:00 P.M. “THE FLASH”

Until recently, 25-year-old Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) lived a normal life as a perpetually tardy C.S.I. in the Central City Police department.  Barry is secretly in love with his best friend, Iris West (Candice Patton), daughter of Barry’s surrogate father, Detective Joe West (Jesse L. Martin).  Joe adopted Barry fourteen years ago after Barry’s mother was murdered and Barry’s father, Henry Allen, received a life sentence for the crime – though Barry maintains that a mysterious “Man in Yellow” was responsible.  Nine months ago, the S.T.A.R. Labs Particle Accelerator exploded, creating a dark matter lightning storm that struck Barry – bestowing him with super-speed and making him the fastest man alive.  But Barry wasn’t the only person who was given extraordinary abilities that night.  The dark matter also created meta-humans, many of whom have wreaked havoc on the city.  With the help of his new scientist friends at S.T.A.R Labs, Caitlin Snow (Danielle Panabaker), Cisco Ramon (Carlos Valdes), and Dr. Harrison Wells (Tom Cavanaugh), Barry begins a journey as The Flash to protect the people of Central City from these powerful new threats.  However, Barry’s mission gets sidetracked when he comes face to face with the Man in Yellow.  Barry isn’t fast enough to catch him but in a shocking revelation the team figures out their beloved mentor, Harrison Wells, is in fact the Man in Yellow and the man responsible for killing Barry’s mother.  Harrison Wells reveals his true identity as Eobard Thawne, a man from the future who traveled back in time to kill Barry.  When

Barry is finally forced to confront Wells, will he be fast enough to catch him?  Or will Wells be successful in killing Barry and returning home to the future? Based on the characters from DC Comics, THE FLASH is from by Bonanza Productions Inc. in association with Berlanti Productions and Warner Bros. Television, with executive producers Greg Berlanti (“Arrow,” upcoming “Pan”), Andrew Kreisberg (“Arrow,” “Eli Stone”), David Nutter (“Arrow,” “Game of Thrones”) and Sarah Schechter (“Arrow,” upcoming “Pan”).

9:00-10:00 P.M. “IZOMBIE”

Throughout the riveting first season of iZombie, television’s only zom-dram-rom-com, Liv Moore (Rose McIver) learned to embrace her undead life and use her zombie powers for good. As an intrepid, zombified medical examiner, Liv ate the brains of the morgue cadavers and, under the guise of being a psychic, used her visions to assist Detective Clive Babinaux (Malcolm Goodwin) in solving murder cases. While Liv’s boss and sole confidante, Dr. Ravi Chakrabarti (Rahul Kohli), worked on a cure for her unthinkable condition, Liv battled the evil, zombie-making, brain-dealing Blaine (David Anders) and struggled to protect her loved ones and all of Seattle from a potential zombie apocalypse. Standing directly and unwittingly in the path of the oncoming zombie train is Liv’s ex-fiancee Major Lilywhite (Robert Buckley), whose life spiraled out of control when he began investigating forces beyond his understanding. In our final episodes of the debut season, those closest to Liv are thrust into mortal danger and Liv will be forced to make the ultimate sacrifice to save them. There will be heartbreaking consequences and as the dust settles we’ll see that nothing in Liv’s partially dead life will ever be the same. In season two, Liv will face new and even more powerful enemies and old enemies in surprising new forms.  Unlikely alliances will be struck, relationships will be challenged, and the line between good and evil will blur for both zombies and the fully living. Based upon characters created by Chris Roberson and Michael Allred, and published by DC Entertainment’s Vertigo imprint, iZOMBIE is from Bonanza Productions Inc. in association with Spondoolie Productions and Warner Bros. Television.

WEDNESDAY

THURSDAY

8:00-9:00 P.M. “THE VAMPIRE DIARIES”

Season six of THE VAMPIRE DIARIES began with our heroes mourning the devastating loss of Damon (Ian Somerhalder) and Bonnie (Kat Graham), who turned out to be trapped in a 1994 prison world by a sociopathic magic-siphon named Kai Parker (guest star Chris Wood).  Unable to cope with the loss of her love, Elena (Nina Dobrev) compelled away all of her memories of loving Damon, which meant that when he finally returned to Mystic Falls, he had to win her over again.  Meanwhile, Caroline (Candice Accola) had to come to terms with her feelings for Stefan (Paul Wesley) in light of her mother’s heartbreaking battle with cancer.  That battle ultimately proved fatal, sending both Caroline and Stefan down a dangerous path as humanity-free vampires.  Bonnie returned from the prison world with a surprise for Damon, the cure for vampirism, which he ultimately chose to give to Elena.  Damon and Stefan came face-to-face with their mother Lily (guest star Annie Wersching), who they long since believed to be dead. As the season built to a wedding between Alaric (Matt Davis) and Jo (guest star Jodi Lyn O’Keefe), Damon used the ceremony to profess his dedication to Elena, but not without a catastrophic event that left lives hanging in the balance.  In the wake of Elena Gilbert’s goodbye, in season seven, some characters will recover while others falter.  As Lily tries to drive a wedge between the Salvatore brothers, we’ll still hold onto hope that Stefan and Caroline’s love story is strong enough to survive.  Based on the series of books by L. J. Smith, THE VAMPIRE DIARIES is from Bonanza Productions Inc. in association with Outerbanks Entertainment, Alloy Entertainment, Warner Bros. Television and CBS Television Studios.  The series was developed by Kevin Williamson (“The Following,” “Scream”) & Julie Plec (“The Originals,” “Kyle XY,” “Wasteland”), who serve as executive producers along with Leslie Morgenstein (“Gossip Girl,” “Pretty Little Liars”) and Caroline Dries (“Melrose Place,” “Smallville”).

9:00-10:00 P.M. “THE ORIGINALS”

The Mikaelson family tragedies and triumphs continue as THE ORIGINALS enters its third season. The Original vampire-werewolf hybrid Klaus Mikaelson (Joseph Morgan) and his brother Elijah (Daniel Gillies) have spent one thousand years fighting to protect their dysfunctional family, but now that Klaus and the hybrid Hayley (Phoebe Tonkin) share an infant daughter, Hope, the stakes are higher than ever.  In the second season, Klaus and Elijah united against their resurrected mother, Esther, who tortured them with demons from their pasts in an effort to persuade them to surrender their vampire bodies and become mortal.  Esther, however, was only the harbinger, as Klaus learned that a long-standing curse had marked Hope for a life of isolation and terror at the hands of Esther’s sister, the witch Dahlia, whose defeat came at great cost to the family.  Season 3 finds Klaus and Elijah estranged from each other, even as both brothers adjust to life with their long-lost sister, Freya (Riley Voelkel).  Hayley suffers mightily at the hands of Klaus’s petty vengeance, while Marcel (Charles Michael Davis) and Davina (Danielle Campbell) rule the city under a new status quo.  Meanwhile, Cami (Leah Pipes) and Vincent (Yusuf Gatewood) find themselves caught up in a surprising mystery involving the newest resident of New Orleans — the first vampire ever sired by the Mikaelsons a thousand years ago. THE ORIGINALS is from Bonanza Productions Inc. in association with My So-Called Company, Alloy Entertainment, Warner Bros. Television and CBS Television Studios.  Julie Plec (“The Vampire Diaries,” “Kyle XY,” “Wasteland”), Michael Narducci (“The Vampire Diaries,” “The 4400,” “Medium”), Diane Ademu-John (“Body of Proof,” “Medium”) and Leslie Morgenstein (“The Vampire Diaries,” “Gossip Girl”) are executive producers.

FRIDAY

8:00-9:00 P.M. “REIGN”

The second season of REIGN begins with marriages and allegiances torn asunder, as well as the rise of enemies and political unrest.  Mary, Queen of Scots (Adelaide Kane), and her husband the King of France, Francis (Toby Regbo) lived through the birth of the King’s, but not the Queen’s, son, the plague, and a nation divided.  Catherine de Medici (Megan Follows), realizing her limited power now that her daughter-in-law wears her crown, made a bold move to align herself with Mary’s ultimate enemy, Queen Elizabeth (Rachel Skarsten) of England.  Bash (Torrance Coombs), wounded from his failed marriage with Kenna (Caitlin Stasey), sought refuge with an ethereal woman with mysterious powers, while Greer (Celina Sinden) was ousted from favor and took up a surprising occupation, where she flourished.   REIGN begins its third season with Mary and Francis realizing that they are more powerful together than apart, believing there is hope for them to move forward, leaving behind the anger and hurt.  It also introduces us to another Court, that of Elizabeth, “Virgin” Queen of England.   Still early in her reign, Elizabeth faces opposition on all sides, particularly from men who doubt a woman’s ability to rule.  Like Mary, and Catherine de Medici, she struggles to hold onto power, and love; the women have much in common, and Mary and Elizabeth are reluctant foes, but foes nonetheless, each positioned by birth and fate to destroy all the other holds dear. REIGN is produced by CBS Television Studios and Whizbang Films/Take 5 Productions with executive producers Laurie McCarthy (“The Ghost Whisperer”), Frank Siracusa (“Beauty And The Beast”), John Weber (“Beauty And The Beast”), Brad Silberling (“Moonlight Mile”), Gretchen Berg, and Aaron Harberts.

Trying to keep the peace on the streets is police officer Lex Carnahan, who has quickly risen through the ranks of the Atlanta PD.  But Lex’s job becomes even harder when he learns that his longtime girlfriend, Jana, and his best friend and fellow officer Jake, are trapped within the cordoned area.  Also quarantined in viral ground zero is 17 year-old Teresa, who is eight months pregnant and now separated from her boyfriend on the other side; Katie Frank, an elementary school teacher now placed on lockdown with her entire class, including her young son; and CDC researcher Dr. Victor Cannerts, the doctor who initially made the controversial call to quarantine the area and is now racing to find a cure for the virus.  On the outside, Dr. Sabine Lommers is leading the government efforts to contain the outbreak, and has asked for Lex’s help in enforcing the cordon – which grows increasingly difficult as the public trust deteriorates. And the public has reason to be wary, as journalist Leo begins unraveling a conspiracy, finding that something doesn’t add up in the official story being told. Torn apart from their loved ones, the survivors trapped within the cordon are fighting against not only fatal infection, but also isolation, fear, and the disintegration of society around them. And is there more to life than just surviving? “FRESH OFF THE BOAT” (Season 2)

Hip-hop loving Eddie Huang has moved with his family from Chinatown in Washington, D.C. to suburban Orlando, where they learn very quickly that things are very different there.  Orlando doesn’t even have a Chinatown — unless you count the Huang house.

Despite the culture shock, the Huangs are slowly making Orlando their own — to the point that they’ve even been asked to join the country club. Dad Louis Huang’s restaurant Cattleman’s Ranch Steakhouse is starting to flourish after a wobbly start.  Mom Jessica is determined to become the best real estate agent in all of Orlando, and has even made a friend in trophy wife Honey.  Brother Emery is the most popular guy at his elementary school who all of the ladies love, while little brother Evan just wants to win at poker against Grandma Huang.  Eddie and his posse of misfit friends are a thorn in the side of the teaching staff at Abraham Lincoln Middle School.  Like his idol, The Notorious B.I.G., Eddie’s a guy with mad dreams — whether it’s to run for school president or finally get the hottest girl on the block to acknowledge his existence.  “Fresh Off the Boat” is the classic immigrant story, seen through the eyes of a first-generation Asian American kid.

“THE GOLDBERGS” (Season 3)

Before there were parenting blogs, trophies for showing up and peanut allergies, there was a simpler time called the ’80s. For geeky and movie obsessed youngest child Adam, these were his wonder years, and he faced them armed with a video camera to capture all the crazy. The Goldbergs are a loving family like any other — just with more yelling. Mom, Beverly, is a classic “smother,” an overbearing, overprotective matriarch who loves her delicious kids, but still rules this brood with 100% authority and zero sense of boundaries. Dad, Murray, is gruff and sometimes oblivious, parenting with half his attention span but all his heart. Sister, Erica, is popular and terrifying, doing her best to cover up that she’s the smartest of the clan. Barry is a passionate dreamer, who maybe dreams a little too big and who always gets the short end of the stick.  Adam is the youngest, a camera-wielding future director who’s navigating first love and growing up with his family. Rounding out the family is beloved grandfather, Al “Pops” Solomon, the wild man of the clan, a shameless Don Juan who’s learning as much from his family as he teaches them.

He tries to escape all the female drama at home in the warm, manly embrace of his job at the Outdoor Man store, a sporting goods emporium where he is marketing director. Also, he still revels in his Outdoor Man video blog, which he delightedly uses as a pulpit for his opinions and a voice to appeal to those who agree that manliness is under assault. FOX FALL SCHEDULE

Standard

Dana Walden and Gary Newman, Chairmen and CEOs, Fox Television Group, today unveiled the FOX primetime slate for the 2015-2016 television season to the national advertising community during its annual Programming Presentation at the Beacon Theatre.

“Building on the phenomenal momentum created by GOTHAM, THE LAST MAN ON EARTH and, of course, EMPIRE, we’re infusing next season’s schedule with new ambitious dramas, smart comedies, aspirational unscripted series and big live events and specials – all from the best creators in the business,” said Walden and Newman. “And our strategy with these bold creative swings is simple: schedule them strategically, market them relentlessly and create events that break through and captivate viewers across every platform.”

Tuesdays are all-new this fall on FOX, with new comedies GRANDFATHERED and THE GRINDER, followed by killer comedy-horror series SCREAM QUEENS.

The new comedies kicking off an all-new Tuesday are GRANDFATHERED and THE GRINDER. A comedy about coming of age – at any age – GRANDFATHERED stars John Stamos (“Full House,” “ER”) as the ultimate bachelor whose life is turned upside down when he discovers he’s not only a father, but a grandfather. THE GRINDER, starring Emmy Award nominee Rob Lowe (“Parks and Recreation,” “The West Wing”) and Emmy Award and Golden Globe Award nominee Fred Savage (“The Wonder Years”), follows a famous TV lawyer (Lowe) who, after his hit series, “The Grinder,” is canceled, moves back home and joins his brother (Savage) at their family’s real-life law firm – despite having no formal education, no bar certification, no license to practice and no experience in an actual courtroom.

Award-winning executive producers Ryan Murphy (GLEE, “American Horror Story”), Brad Falchuk (GLEE, “American Horror Story”) and Ian Brennan (GLEE) meld comedy, mystery and horror in SCREAM QUEENS. All hell is about to break loose for the Kappa House sisters of Wallace University when a murder takes place, exactly 20 years after a mysterious death originally rocked their college campus. The super-charged anthology series is a modern take on the classic whodunit with a killer cast, including Emma Roberts (“American Horror Story: Freak Show,” “Scream 4”), Jamie Lee Curtis (“Halloween,” “A Fish Called Wanda,” “True Lies”), Lea Michele (GLEE), Oliver Hudson (“Nashville,” “Rules of Engagement”), Keke Palmer (“Akeela and the Bee,” “Masters of Sex”) and guest stars Ariana Grande and Nick Jonas (“Kingdom”), among others. With at least one casualty each week until the mystery is solved, anyone could be the next victim – or the murderer.

Two new dramas – the futuristic MINORITY REPORT and the Miami-set ROSEWOOD – debut this fall. Based on Steven Spielberg’s international blockbuster film and the first of his films to be adapted for television, MINORITY REPORT follows the partnership between a man (Stark Sands, “Inside Llewyn Davis”) haunted by the future and a cop (Meagan Good, “Think Like A Man” franchise, “Californication”) haunted by her past, as they race to stop the worst crimes before they happen.

Also joining the schedule this fall is ROSEWOOD. From executive producer Todd Harthan (“Psych,” “Dominion”), ROSEWOOD stars Morris Chestnut (“Nurse Jackie,” “The Best Man” franchise) as DR. BEAUMONT ROSEWOOD, JR., a brilliant private pathologist who uses wildly sophisticated technology and his drive to live life to the fullest to help a tough-as-nails detective (Jaina Lee Ortiz, “The After”) and the Miami PD uncover clues no one else can see.

The next mind-bending chapter of THE X-FILES debuts with a special two-night event beginning Sunday, Jan. 24 (10:00-11:00 PM ET/7:00-8:00 PM PT), following the NFC CHAMPIONSHIP GAME, and continuing with its time period premiere on Monday, Jan. 25 (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT). The thrilling, six-episode event series, helmed by creator/executive producer Chris Carter and starring David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson as FBI Agents FOX MULDER and DANA SCULLY, marks the momentous return of the Emmy Award- and Golden Globe-winning pop culture phenomenon, which remains one of the longest-running sci-fi series in network television history.

In 2016, additional new series joining the schedule include devilish drama LUCIFER and modern action series THE FRANKENSTEIN CODE; and two comedies, THE GUIDE TO SURVIVING LIFE and animated BORDERTOWN.

Based on characters from DC Entertainment’s Vertigo imprint, LUCIFER stars Tom Ellis (“Merlin”) as the charming, charismatic and handsome-as-hell original fallen angel, who, bored and unhappy in Hell, takes refuge in Los Angeles, where he uses his gift of persuasion to punish bad guys. But the longer he’s away from the underworld, the greater the threat that the worst of humanity could escape.

In THE FRANKENSTEIN CODE, from executive producer/writer Rand Ravich (“Life,” “Crisis”) and executive producer Howard Gordon (“Homeland,” “24”), a disgraced, 75-year-old ex-sheriff, whose life ends at the hands of corrupt cops, is brought back to life and given a second chance by a pair of young tech scientists, as a 35-year-old (Rob Kazinsky, “True Blood”) with unpredictable near-superhuman abilities.

NEW GIRL will return to Tuesdays in January, for its first-ever season of virtually uninterrupted originals. These weekly all-new episodes will platform THE GUIDE TO SURVIVING LIFE, the new young ensemble comedy about a group of friends living together for the first time. Each episode is told from the perspective of COOPER BARRETT (Jack Cutmore-Scott, “Kingsman: The Secret Service”), a wickedly charming and deeply flawed recent college grad whose life is filled with terrible choices, excellent mistakes and fantastic misadventures.

A new animated comedy from FAMILY GUY’s Mark Hentemann and Seth MacFarlane, BORDERTOWN is a satirical look at the cultural shifts taking place in America. Exploring family, politics and everything in between with a cross-cultural wink, the series centers on two very different families living in a fictional Southwest desert town on the U.S. – Mexico border.

AMERICAN IDOL will begin its 15th – and final – season this January on FOX. A season-long celebratory event, AMERICAN IDOL XV will feature host Ryan Seacrest and judges Jennifer Lopez, Keith Urban and Harry Connick, Jr., as they search for the final IDOL superstar and pay tribute to the past 14 seasons of amazingly talented contestants and the millions of fans who tweeted, texted and championed their IDOLs.

As previously announced, GREASE: LIVE, a three-hour production of the massively popular crossover musical “Grease,” starring superstar singers, dancers and actresses Julianne Hough (“Safe Haven,” “Rock of Ages”) and Vanessa Hudgens (Broadway’s “Gigi,” “Spring Breakers”), will air LIVE Sunday, Jan. 31, 2016 on FOX. With Hough as the angelic “Sandy” – Rydell High’s most talked-about newcomer – and Hudgens as iconic bad girl “Rizzo,” this first-ever live television production of “Grease” will re-imagine the hit musical for an entirely new generation.

Additional FOX series include: ARE YOU SMARTER THAN A 5TH GRADER?, BOB’S BURGERS, BONES, BOOM!, BROOKLYN NINE-NINE, BULLSEYE, EMPIRE, FAMILY GUY, GOTHAM, HELL’S KITCHEN, HOME FREE, THE LAST MAN ON EARTH, MASTERCHEF, MASTERCHEF JUNIOR, THE SIMPSONS, SLEEPY HOLLOW, SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE and WORLD’S FUNNIEST.

What’s the fastest way to put the brakes on a cruise-controlled bachelor lifestyle? Fatherhood? Guess again. Television icon John Stamos (“Full House,” “ER”) stars in a new comedy about the ultimate bachelor who discovers he’s not only a father, but a grandfather. Successful restaurateur and man-about-town JIMMY MARTINO (Stamos) is used to being the most suave, most handsome and most single person in the room. All that changes with the surprise appearance of Jimmy’s adult son, GERALD (Josh Peck, THE MINDY PROJECT), and his baby daughter, EDIE. Now Jimmy has to unlearn a lifetime of blissful selfishness and grapple with the fact that he went straight from single to grandfather in six seconds flat. Keeping tabs on Jimmy is Gerald’s mother and Jimmy’s former girlfriend, rocker chick-turned-mother SARA (Paget Brewster, “Criminal Minds,” “Community”). Equally concerned about how Jimmy will manage these new developments is Jimmy’s restaurant family, especially assistant manager ANNELISE (Kelly Jenrette, “Audrey”) and chef KEN (Ravi Patel, “Super Fun Night”). Can Jimmy teach Gerald to be a little more like him in order to win the affection of Edie’s hot mess of a mom, VANESSA (Christina Milian, FAMILY GUY, “Baggage Claim”)? Will Jimmy and Sara fall for each other all over again, even though she’s the one thing he never dates – a woman his own age? And who’s higher maintenance, Jimmy or the baby? GRANDFATHERED is an unconventional, sophisticated comedy about coming of age – at any age.

THE GRINDER

How many TV lawyers does it take to try a real-life case in a real-life courtroom? One, and his name is THE GRINDER. Starring Emmy Award nominee Rob Lowe (“Parks and Recreation,” “The West Wing”), THE GRINDER is a new comedy about a famous TV lawyer at a crossroads. When his legal series ends, he decides to move back home and join his family’s real law firm – despite having no formal education, no bar certification, no license to practice and no experience in an actual courtroom. DEAN SANDERSON (Lowe) spent eight seasons playing the title role on the hit legal drama “The Grinder.” Now he’s moving back to his hometown of Boise, Idaho, where his brother, STEWART (Emmy Award and Golden Globe Award nominee Fred Savage, “The Wonder Years”), is a real-life attorney who is poised to take over the family law firm. It doesn’t take long for Dean to start injecting his TV drama into every aspect of Stewart’s life, both in the courtroom and at home, impacting Stewart’s wife – and Dean’s high school sweetheart – DEBBIE (Mary Elizabeth Ellis, NEW GIRL, “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia”); their two kids, 15-year-old LIZZIE (Hana Hayes, “Bucket and Skinner’s Epic Adventures”) and 13-year-old ETHAN (Connor Kalopsis, “Days Of Our Lives”); and Dean and Stewart’s father, the law firm’s head, DEAN SR. (William Devane, “24: Live Another Day”). Dean and Stewart don’t see to eye to eye, but when they stop arguing with each other and start arguing together in court…they make a formidable team. THE GRINDER is the story of two brothers, who took different paths, but meet again in the middle – for justice…sort of.

MINORITY REPORT

The future is coming. Based on the international blockbuster film by executive producer Steven Spielberg and the first of his films to be adapted for television, MINORITY REPORT follows the unlikely partnership between a man haunted by the future and a cop haunted by her past, as they race to stop the worst crimes of the year 2065 before they happen. Set in Washington, D.C., it is 10 years after the demise of Precrime, a law enforcement agency tasked with identifying and eliminating criminals…before their crimes were committed. To carry out this brand of justice, the agency used three precogs – “precognitives” Dash, Arthur and Agatha – who were able to see the future. Now, in 2065, crime-solving is different, and justice leans more on sophisticated and trusted technology than on the instincts of the precogs. Precog DASH (Stark Sands, “Inside Llewyn Davis”) – driven by his terrifying, but fragmented visions – now has returned in secret to help a brash, but shrewd police detective, LARA VEGA (Meagan Good, “Think Like A Man” franchise, “Californication”), attempt to stop the murders that he predicts. As they navigate this future America, they will search for Dash’s missing twin brother, ARTHUR, and elude others who will stop at nothing to exploit their precog abilities. Also complicating matters is Dash and Arthur’s ingenious, but reclusive, foster sister, AGATHA (Laura Regan, “Mad Men,” “Unbreakable”), who just wants Dash to return home. A drama of crime and conspiracy, this is a timeless story of connection: two lost souls, Dash and Vega, who find friendship, purpose and redemption in each other.

Using his wildly sophisticated autopsy lab, he performs for-hire autopsies to uncover clues that the Miami PD can’t see. His new partner-in-crime is Detective VILLA (Jaina Lee Ortiz, “The After”), a Miami PD detective with attitude and demons to spare. While she’s impressed by Rosewood’s incredible abilities, his constant optimism is more annoying than it is infectious. THE GUIDE TO SURVIVING LIFE

Wouldn’t it be great to have a friend who has made all the mistakes in life there are to make, and then tells you exactly where he went wrong, so you don’t have to? THE GUIDE TO SURVIVING LIFE is a new comedy that explores what we all go through on our way to figuring out what life is all about. COOPER BARRETT (Jack Cutmore-Scott, “Kingsman: The Secret Service”) still doesn’t have the job he wants; he’s accidently fallen in love with his across-the-hall neighbor, KELLY BISHOP (Meaghan Rath, “Being Human”); one of his roommates, NEAL (Charlie Saxton, “Betas,” “Hung”), just can’t seem to dump his bodybuilder girlfriend; his other roommate, BARRY (James Earl, “Ground Floor,” GLEE), is a “loveable jackass” who can’t stop getting into trouble; and his 40-year-old-brother, JOSH (Justin Bartha, “The New Normal,” “The Hangover” franchise), a married father of two, is constantly popping in to come hang with the fellas. The one thing they do have is each other. As Cooper struggles to survive each of life’s many challenges – a night in jail, an inappropriate text he never should have sent, an ill-advised household pet – he will guide us through the often-messy, always-hilarious ordeal, so that our lives don’t have to be nearly the entertaining disaster that Cooper’s is turning out to be.

BORDERTOWN

From FAMILY GUY’s Mark Hentemann comes BORDERTOWN, a new animated comedy about two families living in a Southwest desert town on the U.S. – Mexico border. The series takes a satirical look at the cultural shifts occurring in America, where the U.S. Census forecasts that by 2017, ethnic minorities will become the majority. Set against this increasingly diverse backdrop, the comedy explores family, politics and everything in between with a cross-cultural wink. BORDERTOWN centers on two clans: the Buckwalds and the Gonzalezes. BUD BUCKWALD (Hank Azaria, THE SIMPSONS) is a married father of three and a Border Patrol agent who is just a tad behind the times and feels slightly threatened by the cultural changes transforming his neighborhood. He lives next door to ERNESTO GONZALEZ (Nicholas Gonzalez, SLEEPY HOLLOW), an ambitious family man, who has been in the country less than 10 years, but is already doing better than Bud – which, it turns out, is a bit of an issue for Bud. Bud is married to JANICE BUCKWALD (Alex Borstein, FAMILY GUY), both the wisest and most oblivious member of the family. The Buckwald kids include BECKY (Borstein), a socially awkward, big-boned geek; SANFORD (Judah Friedlander, “30 Rock”), a loser who thinks he’s a player; and GERT (Missi Pyle, “The Exes,” “Galaxy Quest”), a beauty pageant-obsessed five-year-old with a pet pig. Meanwhile, living the American Dream next door are the Gonzalezes, including MARIA (Stephanie Escajeda, “100 Things To Do Before High School”), Ernesto’s no-nonsense wife; their son, RUIZ (guest voice Efren Ramirez, “Napoleon Dynamite”); and their 21-year-old nephew, J.C. (Gonzalez), a graduate student who is engaged to Becky and frequently butts heads with Bud. As Bud and Ernesto’s paths begin to cross, their two families soon become bound by romance, conflict and, perhaps most importantly, friendship – a word that means the same, no matter what side of the border you’re from.

From executive producer/writer Rand Ravich (“Life,” “Crisis”) and executive producer Howard Gordon (“Homeland,” “24”) comes THE FRANKENSTEIN CODE, a modern reimagining of the Mary Shelley classic, about a man brought back to life by two scientists playing god. Seventy-five-year-old JIMMY PRITCHARD (guest star Philip Baker Hall, “Modern Family,” “Magnolia”) is a shell of his former self. A drinker, a womanizer and a father who always put work before family, Pritchard was forced to resign as L.A. County Sheriff for corrupt conduct more than a decade ago. Now, some 15 unkind years later, he is killed when he stumbles upon a robbery at the home of FBI Agent DUVAL PRITCHARD (Tim DeKay, “White Collar”), one of his three children. But death is surprisingly short for Jimmy, who is brought back to life by billionaire tech-genius twins MARY GOODWIN (Dilshad Vadsaria, “Revenge”) and her brother, OTTO (Adhir Kalyan, “Rules of Engagement”), founders of the social networking empire, Lookinglass. Resurrected as a younger version of himself, with physical abilities of which he never dreamed, a re-animated Pritchard (Rob Kazinsky, “True Blood”) is given a second chance at life. What will he do with it? Will he seek vengeance against those who killed him? Will he try to repair the damage he did to his family? LUCIFER

The Devil has come to Los Angeles…Based upon the characters created by Neil Gaiman, Sam Kieth and Mike Dringenberg for DC Entertainment’s Vertigo imprint, LUCIFER is the story of the original fallen angel. Bored and unhappy as the Lord of Hell, LUCIFER MORNINGSTAR (Tom Ellis, “Merlin”) has abandoned his throne and retired to L.A., where he owns Lux, an upscale nightclub. Charming, charismatic and devilishly handsome, Lucifer is enjoying his retirement, indulging in a few of his favorite things – wine, women and song – when a beautiful pop star is brutally murdered outside of Lux. For the first time in roughly 10 billion years, he feels something awaken deep within him as a result of this murder. Compassion? Sympathy? The very thought disturbs him – as well as his best friend and confidante, MAZIKEEN aka MAZE (Lesley-Ann Brandt, “The Librarians”), a fierce demon in the form of a beautiful young woman. The murder attracts the attention of LAPD homicide detective CHLOE DANCER (Lauren German, “Chicago Fire”), who initially is dismissive of Lucifer. But she becomes intrigued by his talent for drawing out people’s secrets and his desire to dispense justice, doling out punishment to those who deserve it. As they work together to solve the pop star’s murder, Lucifer is struck by Chloe’s inherent goodness. Accustomed to dealing with the absolute worst of humanity, Lucifer is intrigued by Chloe’s apparent purity and begins to wonder if there’s hope for his own soul yet. At the same time, God’s emissary, the angel AMENADIEL (DB Woodside, “Suits,” “24”), has been sent to Los Angeles to convince Lucifer to return to the underworld…can the Devil incarnate be tempted toward the side of Good, or will his original calling pull him back toward Evil?

Prolific Producer Greg Berlanti’s Drama “Blindspot” Earns Coveted 10 P.M. Monday Post-“Voice” Timeslot Emmy-Winning #1 Reality Series “The Voice” Returns for Season 9 on Monday and Tuesday “Heroes Reborn” Starts Off Strengthened Thursday and Serves as Lead-In to 9 P.M. “The Blacklist” “Sunday Night Football” Remains #1 Most-Watched and Top 18-49 Program and Features Great Gridiron Matchups Midseason Series “Hot & Bothered” With Eva Longoria, and “Coach” With Craig T. Nelson Set to Invigorate Comedy Lineup While Spinoff “Chicago Med” Readies to Roll

NEW YORK – May 10, 2015 – As it closes in on its second consecutive season-long victory in the key adult 18-49 demographic, NBC unveils a new 2015-16 primetime schedule that combines popular returning series, edge-of-your-seat new dramas, inventive new comedies and season nine of the Emmy Award-winning musical competition series “The Voice.”

NBC is on track to win the traditional September-to-May primetime season in adults 18-49 for the second year in a row after having gone the prior 10 years without an 18-49 win. Through 32 completed weeks of the season, NBC also ranks #1 or tied for #1 among the Big 4 networks in adults and men 18-34 and men and women 18-49.

In total viewers, NBC is running #2 for the season and within 7% of its year-ago Olympics-boosted average (8.8 million vs. 9.5 million), making this season and last NBC’s two top-scoring seasons in total viewers since 2006-07.

NBC has won the last three November sweeps in adults 18-49, as well as the last two February sweeps and the last four summers in a row.

Highlights of the newly announced year-round schedule include the captivating and mysterious drama “Blindspot” from Greg Berlanti, one of TV’s most prolific executive producers; “Heroes Reborn,” the return of the supernatural phenomenon from “Heroes” creator Tim Kring that examines a new group of ordinary citizens with extraordinary abilities; “Heartbreaker,” starring Melissa George as a fearless doctor inspired by real-life renowned surgeon Dr. Kathy Magliato, who always fights authority to ensure the best for her patients; and “The Player,” starring Wesley Snipes and Philip Winchester as a former military operative turned security agent drawn into a high-stakes game in a Las Vegas-set thriller.

Other high-profile dramas include “Chicago Med,” the newest installment of NBC’s highly successful “Chicago” franchise from multi-Emmy Award winner and TV icon Dick Wolf; and “Game of Silence,” from “CSI” veteran Carol Mendelsohn and David Hudgins (“Parenthood,” “Friday Night Lights”), in which three childhood friends reunite 25 years later to right the wrongs of the past. And starring Jennifer Lopez comes “Shades of Blue,” in which she plays a single mother and New York cop who is forced to work with the FBI and must betray her own on-the-job brothers.

On the comedy side, the cast from “Undateable” will return for a new season, but with a twist: Every episode will be shot LIVE! Also for fall is “People Are Talking” from executive producer Will Packer (“Ride Along”) about two diverse couples who talk and share their sometimes surprising, but relatable, everyday experiences. “Crowded,” from “Hot in Cleveland” creator Suzanne Martin, looks at a couple (Carrie Preston, “True Blood” and Patrick Warburton, “Seinfeld”) who are truly enjoying their empty nest after the kids have moved away, only to have them move back home again.

“Superstore” stars America Ferrera (“Ugly Betty”) as a supervisor in a big-box megastore who works with a rag-tag crew that doesn’t always put the customer first. There’s also the one-hour “You, Me and the End of the World,” with Rob Lowe, Megan Mullally and Jenna Fischer, about an unlikely group of unconnected characters trying to find shelter when an apocalyptic event is threatening the existence of Earth.

Two stars of previous beloved series are toplining new NBC comedies: Eva Longoria (“Desperate Housewives”) stars in “Hot & Bothered” as the lead in a telenovela in which she plays a woman grappling with life and romance; and Craig T. Nelson reprises his role as Hayden Fox in “Coach,” this time to help his son with a fledgling Ivy League football team.

On the alternative side, inspired by the wildly popular U.K. format is a unique live variety show titled “Best Time Ever with Neil Patrick Harris.” It will include stunts, skits, pranks, audience interaction, musical numbers, giveaways and unlimited surprises. Also ordered to series is “Little Big Shots,” which is hosted by Steve Harvey and features extraordinarily talented kids. The show is executive produced by Ellen DeGeneres and Steve Harvey.

For event programming, in a deal previously announced, Dolly Parton will be executive producing a selected number of movies, the first of which is “Coat of Many Colors,” based on her remarkable upbringing. NBC has also ordered “The Reaper,” a miniseries based on the best-selling memoir by Sgt. Nicholas Irving, a decorated African-American sniper who was deployed in Afghanistan for 100 days.

Returning scripted programming includes “The Blacklist,” “Chicago Fire,” “Chicago P.D.,” “Grimm.” “Law & Order: SVU,” “The Mysteries of Laura” and “The Night Shift.”

The decision on the future of “A.D. The Bible Continues” and “American Odyssey” will come at a later date after their respective seasons have ended. Season three of “Hannibal” is set to premiere Thursday, June 4.

Returning alternative programming includes “America Ninja Warrior,” “America’s Got Talent,” “The Biggest Loser,” “The Celebrity Apprentice,” “Food Fighters,” “Hollywood Game Night,” “Last Comic Standing,” “Running Wild with Bear Grylls” and “The Voice.”

This fall’s biggest event will be the holiday musical “The Wiz Live!”

“We’re attacking the new season with the same programming strategy that successfully turned NBC around — a slate of provocative and innovative series and events that cut through the clutter and will continue to build on our momentum,” said Robert Greenblatt, Chairman, NBC Entertainment. “We have several powerful new dramas and attention-getting new comedies, including the return of ‘Undateable,’ which will be broadcast live every week next season. Live programming is one more way to make a show undeniable.”

“We can’t wait for the fall season and the chance to roll out our lineup of distinctive, innovative new dramas and comedies, scheduled with the kind of lead-in support that will give each of our new shows the optimum chance to find their audiences and deliver on their outstanding potential,” said Jennifer Salke, President, NBC Entertainment. “The fall lineup gives you only half the story. We truly program on a 52-week basis and are putting virtually the same amount of programming muscle behind our mid-season lineup, with some of the most high-profile concepts and biggest names on television joining the schedule starting at midseason and extending throughout the remainder of the broadcast year.”

“Unscripted programming has played a key role in NBC’s two consecutive season-long wins, from ‘The Voice’ to ‘America’s Got Talent’ to ‘American Ninja Warrior,’” said Paul Telegdy, President, Alternative and Late Night Programming, NBC Entertainment. “We’re excited to build on that momentum with some of the most inventive breakthrough alternative concepts coming in the new season, including ‘First Dates,’ ‘Little Big Shots’ and ‘Best Time Ever with Neil Patrick Harris,’ featuring one of America’s most phenomenal performing talents hosting the U.S. adaptation of a smash-hit British series.”

Said Ralph Oakley, President/CEO of Quincy Newspapers, Inc., and Chair of the NBC Affiliate Board, “We are happy with NBC’s finish as the #1 network in primetime this broadcast season are enthusiastic about the potential of the newly unveiled schedule and shows next year.”

“YOU, ME AND THE END OF THE WORLD”

In this bold adrenaline-fueled new one-hour comedy drama, the news that a comet is on an unavoidable collision course with Earth sets in motion the most hilariously unexpected chain of events imaginable. Set against the backdrop of apocalyptic chaos and starring Rob Lowe (“Parks and Recreation”), Jenna Fischer (“The Office”), Megan Mullally (“Will & Grace”) and Mathew Baynton (“Yonderland”), the story follows an eclectic group of seemingly unconnected characters around the world as their lives start to intersect in the most unexpected ways. When we say eclectic, we mean a rebellious priest, an unhinged white supremacist, a mild-mannered bank manager, a germ-phobic cyber-terrorist and an American five-star general. Some of these misfits are destined to make it to a bunker deep beneath the English suburbs of Slough and, as a result, will become the hugely unlikely (and totally unsuitable) future of mankind. Warm and Toasty Inside

Standard

It’s snowing outside today. We don’t get a lot of the white stuff where I live. For some reason it’s put me in the mood to make my favorite stew for dinner and tomato soup for lunch. And I’m also in the mood to share. These are easy recipes because I don’t have time for complicated. :) As you’ll see, most of the ingredients are spices. :)

Beef Stew

2 lbs stew meat

2 onions peeled quartered

5 peeled potatoes cut into bite-sized chunks

baby carrots (as many as you want)

2 cartons of beef broth

Spices (these can vary depending on what you like)

2 tsp salt (1 if using sea salt) (salt to taste after it’s cooked)

1 tsp cumin

1 tbs pepper

2 tsp garlic powder

You can make this stew two ways. If you need it fast, throw everything in a large pot and bring it to a boil. Lower temp so that it’s still bubbling but not over the pot and cook for about 30 mins or until veggies are softened. If you cook it this way, I suggest browning the meat first in a little butter and then adding everything else. The longer you can cook it, the more tender the meat will be. I also suggest using new potatoes in the on stove version as they cook a bit faster.

My favorite way to cook it is in the crock pot. Takes 5-7 hours but it’s really good this way. Just dump all the dry ingredients into the crockpot and add the broth. If you want it to cook slower (maybe while you’re at work), just cook it on low. I usually add a bit more cumin and garlic to the crock pot version. We usually serve it with french bread or whatever rolls we have in the fridge. If you want a really rich broth, substitute two cans of french onion soup for one of the cartons of beef broth. Yummers.

TOMATO SOUP

This recipe is taking canned or carton tomato soup and making it taste homemade. The tricks to use depend on the kind of tomato soup you start with.

Canned: Two cans of condensed tomato soup: Add 2 cups of milk (or half and half if you want to go crazy with the richness), 1tbs of butter, 1 tsp cumin, 1 tsp of curry powder, 1 tsp garlic powder, (salt if needed sometimes canned soups are salty already) 1 tbs of pepper. Heat ingredients until everything is heated through. Depending on how many cans you are using, you can vary the amount of the spices. Start with the minimum and then add to taste.

Carton: The only change here, is you usually just need half a cup of milk. Depends on the size carton you use. If it’s already creamy tomato soup usually, the half cup will do. Then add the butter and spices. We love to serve the tomato soup with grilled cheese done in the frying pan with just a bit of butter.

If you want to get really schmancy you can sprinkle some feta on top or blue cheese crumbles. And if you like your soups with a bit of kick, add a tsp of cayenne. It will help with your sinuses.

Stay warm! And feel free to share your favorite keeping it warm winter recipes with us.

A Gift For You

Standard

Hey Gang! Happy holidays! Hope you are all having a wonderful day with family. I promised you a new Bronwyn book was on the way and I thought I’d share the first chapter with you. Please note, it has not been edited. But it will give you a little hint of what is to come. :)

A Charmed and Crazy Christmas

Dec. 23

7 p.m.

Dead Guys: 2 (But who’s counting?)

“I know I made a promise,” I said into the earpiece connected to my phone. A piece of concrete from the Prime Minister’s fountain flew past my head. I freakin’ hated demons. Hated them. I ducked to miss the punch from another asshole. We fought in the middle of the courtyard at the PM’s countryside estate. A peaceful place, away from London and the craziness that had invaded the PM’s life the last two months.

Right.

“Christmas,” Sam said at the other end of our nightly call. My on again boyfriend of the last six months, wasn’t happy with me. Nothing new. I seemed to live to disappoint lately. “Bronwyn, I left Africa a day ago. We were supposed to meet up at Heathrow. You’re not here.”

I sighed. Whispering a spell I threw out my hands. Fire flew from my fingertips and the first demon’s jacket caught fire. He’d and the other one had been posing as gardeners on the estate. I’d noticed a weird aura around one of them earlier in the day and had been keeping an eye out. We were an hour a way from the PM’s cronies showing up for a party where half of England’s Royalty would be in attendance. I should have known the PM’s troubles would follow us.

“What am supposed to do, Sam? Really. I’m fighting demons as we speak.” A chunk of fountain hit my left shoulder. Bastard. I stomped my foot in frustration and the ground shook. Worked in my favor, the damn demon tripped. The cherubic angel perched on top shooting his arrow, tipped over and crashed into the head of the demon.

Huh. Killed by Cupid’s arrow.

My lip twitched. “Daily attacks, Sam. I can’t leave him with the regular security. I don’t know who he pissed off, but it’s been like this for months.”

Silence. I didn’t blame him for being angry with me. “You moved heaven and part of Africa to get home for the holidays. And I will do the same, I just might be a little late.” For the past three months Sam had been working Doctors without Borders trying to get a handle on the latest violent virus outbreak.

I stumbled back, weak from using so much magic. I’d needed to recharge the natural energies for several weeks now. That was another reason we were in the country. Nature helped me to recharge, but the best place for me to do that was at home. On my ley lines and in my garden. And sleep. God, just five or so hours in a row would be magic.

“I’m just frustrated, babe. I was so looking forward to seeing you.”

That familiar ache twisted in my belly. I shoved some of the snow on the ledge of the fountain off and sat down. “You’re so close,” I whined. “That’s the real killer. I need your arms around me. That would make life so much better.”

“I can chuck the tickets and take a train,” he offered. “I could be there in two or three hours.”

And I’d have one more person to keep safe from this demonic horde after the Prime Minister.

“Or not,” he said quickly. “You’ve got too much on your hands as it is trying to keep everyone there safe.” Sometimes he was too understanding. Even if he was spitting mad at me, and that happened a lot lately, he always saw both sides of the argument. Annoying and one of the many reasons I loved him. Hard to find a man like that, and I was on the verge of losing him. We talked at least four times a week, but we’d been a part so much the last six months. The conversations became more distant and even awkward at times.

“I will find a way to get home to you,” I said. Placing my palms on the stone beneath me. “And stop being so damn understanding. It sucks. I suck.”

He laughed. “They’re calling our flight. Are you sure you want me to go?” I’d actually booked us on a commercial airline so I wouldn’t have to fly. I knew I’d be tired, but I’d had no idea. Now he had to go without me.

“No.” I drew in a deep breath. “Yes. Who’s bright idea was it to throw a Christmas Eve party?”

“That would be you.”

“Yep. So one of us should be there. I’m going to do my best, but other than dragging the PM and his team with me, I don’t know what else to do. I just can’t leave him the way things are right now.”

“So late, or probably not at all.” There was a long pause. “Just trying to manage expectations.”

“Don’t suppose you believe in Christmas miracles do you?” I joked. He didn’t laugh. “And look at it this way, you’re going to have heat, a real toilet and shower for a whole two weeks. ”

I heard him chuckle again. “There is that. I have missed my hot showers.”

A wave of tired hit. I just wanted to go home.

“As for Christmas miracles, I don’t know about that, but I believe in you.”

Stupid man had to be so sweet. Now I had to find a way.

“I love you,” I said.

“Love you, too babe.”

And then he was gone. My soul hurt. Sam and I’d been through the ringer the past year. No more than most folks, but we were on shaky ground when we parted. He went off to Africa, and me traveling full-time with the PM. And absence wasn’t making the heart grow fonder. It just made me sad.

The stone had been cleared of snow and ice, but it was still cold through the velvet dress I’d put on for the party. But I didn’t have the energy to stand.

“You always have such a way with men,” a familiar voice said from behind me. “And what’s with this sitting down on the job you lazy bitch.” Simone stood behind me decked out in a dark green gown that hit her curves in a to-die for way. I wasn’t sure if I was more surprised to see her, or what she wore.

Tight leather was her usual uniform.

She held her favorite scabbard in her hand. “You had all the fun without me.” Raising up the hem of her dress to her thigh, she sheathed the scabbard in the harness she had there.

“What are you doing here?”

She reached down to help me up.

“PM said a certain skank wanted to spend the holidays with her man. He knew you wouldn’t leave with the demon hordes attacking, so the second string is up.”

“You aren’t second anything, but I’m glad you’re here.”

“Well, consider this my Christmas gift to you and Sam. By the way, the PM had your stuff packed up. It’s waiting in the limo. And Azir, your favorite Sheik, has a private jet waiting for you at Heathrow. The crew is on standby you.”

What the hell? They’d planned all of this?

Her hair had been twisted into loose bun with tendrils hanging down. She looked very un-Simone. “Uh, you’re dressed for the party tonight? Why didn’t you tell me you were coming?”

“Surprise,” she said drolly. “There wasn’t time. We’d been talking about it for the last week, but I wasn’t sure I could leave L.A. until yesterday. Azir was on his way back from some thing in Santa Barbara, so I hitched a ride with him. So toodle loo get your ass in gear.” She waved her long fingers at me.

Five minutes earlier and I could have had Sam meet me at the hangar. There was a chance, since he had a transfer in NYC, I might be able to beat him home. Now that would be a surprise.

For the first time in days, I could breathe.

“Go.” She gave me a light shove. Then she pulled me back and wrapped her arms around me. “Merry Christmas, witch.”

“Merry Christmas, slayer.” I squeezed her tight. God she was a pain the ass, but she was also a damn good friend. “Thank you.”

She slapped my ass. “Welcome. Now go. You’re going to be late for your party later. Tell the gang I said hello, oh, and you have an extra bag of presents to take back with you. Azir and I did some Christmas shopping for you.”

“Uh, you and the PM. You and Azir. You guys are all kind of chummy.”

She shrugged. “Just looking out for you witch. Now shove off before I change my mind.”

I glanced back at the PM’s country house, well, truthfully it was a castle.

“I need to at least say goodbye.”

“No need.” Simone nodded toward the window on the second floor. The PM’s bedroom. He waved and then he winked. He actually winked.

“Thank you,” I mouthed. He nodded. And did the same shooing motion Simone had done.

If I didn’t know better, I’d swear these guys were trying to get rid of me.

“I know when I’m not wanted.”

I followed Simone down the path to wear the limos had just begun to line up to let the partygoers out.

In about 14 hours, if I were lucky, I might make it home for my little party, which would definitely not have limos lined up in the drive…

Will Bronwyn make it home for Christmas? And what kind of question will Sam be popping on New Year’s Eve? Find out in A Charmed & Crazy Christmas, November 2015.

I Love You

Standard

I used to do a lot of motivational speaking at big conventions. I talked about the road to success and what it took. One of the points I made was surrounding yourself with good people. If you want to be successful, this is the single most important thing you can do for yourself. The last few weeks, I realized what an incredible gift it is to have those amazing people in your life.

I’ll give you an update on Parker in just a bit, but his illness caused a chain of events that made me stop and think about what was important. I’ve been working myself into the ground to pay off bills and a multitude of school loans. I’d sort of closed myself off and hadn’t seen my friends much because I work ALL the time. Seven days a week 12-18 hours a day. ALL THE TIME. My friends, while they worry about my health, get it. We chat when we can, and there’s a lot texting and tweets.

But when I needed them, my friends were there. Britta and Kern Coleman came up the first full day Parker was in the hospital. They brought me and Liz (who I will write an ode to in just a bit) Diet Mountain Dew. I’d driven 14 hours to get to my kid and I needed to be there for him. I needed that Dew more than anything else. My brain had left the building. And Britta didn’t ask, she said, “Kern and I are coming up. What can I bring you?” Britta is someone who knows just how fiercely protective I am of my kiddos, she gets it. And I needed her smiley face and her jokes. That girl always makes me smile. And Kern, you make the best seafood gumbo I’ve ever eaten. Hands down. You to need to write a cookbook. For real. Curtis came up later that night and made Parker laugh so hard he couldn’t breathe. :)

The next day my friends Jenny Martin and Rosemary Clement Moore surprised us with a visit. They came at a moment where things were looking very, very bad. I’d just finished a crying stint in the public bathrooms down the hall so my kid wouldn’t see. I was exhausted, beat up and worried I was going to lose him. (Geez I’m crying now remember how scared I was.) They brought protein bars, which Parker had just said he wanted and bottles of water with money for the vending machines wrapped around them. Another lovely gift since I’d arrived with NO cash in my wallet. And the ATM downstairs didn’t work. But it wasn’t the gifts, it was that they joked around and made Parker smile. And he knew that they were there just as much for him as they were for me, and that made him happy. Rosemary has experienced more loss than anyone person should have to, and she knew exactly what to say and what I was going through. I’m so blessed to have she and Jenny in my circle.

The day we found out his counts had dropped again, my friend Gina Maxwell sent a box with a funny gorilla and an angel in it. “What? Do your friends think I’m 12?” Parker joked, but he hugged that gorilla hard. And then there was a very funny conversation that the gorilla was probably his spirit animal because they both had hairy asses. I know TMI. :)

Every day people on Twitter and Facebook, people I don’t know that well, were asking about Parker and praying for him. I love those people. I really do. Every tweet or Facebook message made me feel like someone out there cared. That they got it. I had a couple of emails where people shared their personal stories. Stories that helped us make wiser decisions about Parker’s care. You guys sent us funny pictures and some scary videos that made us laugh. I love you guys. I truly, truly do.

There was one person who was fighting for Parker as hard as I was. My friend Liz Pelletier. I was at her house working on a book project when the call came in. She wanted to fly me home, but my car was in Colorado at her house. I ran downstairs to pack and she followed me down. “I’m going with you.” Me: “No. I’ll be fine.” Liz: “Uh huh, sure. But I’m still going with you.” About two hours into the 14 hour trip home I turned to her and said, “I’m not sure I could have done this without you.” :) She was kind and didn’t say, “I told you so.” At the hospital she demanded the lab results. She called everyone she knew, even a higher up at the CDC to get more info on what was going on with Parker. We joked that she was getting her hematology degree on Google. But she knew before the doctors what was going on with Parker. It was still scary as hell, but it helped that I knew she was in my corner. Even after she had to go home (and she didn’t want to) I had to send her the daily lab results.

That same week, Liz had made major announcements about her company, Entangled Publishing. All good, but it was a mad house. She was taking call after call, and dealing with the madness. She works harder than I do, and that’s saying something. But she shut it all down to help me. I will never forget what she’s done for me. Ever. She is quite frankly one of the most amazing human beings I’ve ever met. She’s tough on the outside, but a big ‘ol teddy bear on the inside. And anyone who gives her trouble, I’m putting you on notice. I’m her friend, and I will do anything for her, including, hiding the bodies. ;) Just sayin’. And Parker loves her just as much as I do and will be there to help with said bodies. :)

I’m lucky to be surrounded by such wonderful people. And anyone who says social media friends aren’t real, well, they’re full of crap. Never have I experienced, and actually felt, such love from so many. I thank you all. Truly, from the bottom of my heart.

I love you all. Or as I, the native Texan likes to say, I love y’all. :)

This is my valentine to you. You are awesome. You are loved. Each and every one of you.

P.S.

Parker received some good news today. His counts went up enough that they are postponing surgery for now. He’s taking MASSIVE amounts of steroids and we’re going to see how he’s doing next Tuesday. If the counts continue to go up… Well, we can only hope. His counts have gone up before and back down. So we are cautiously optimistic at this time. :)
