It was NBC today. They began with the Olympics where Bob Costas and the gang say they have tons of fun planned for viewers. I like the winter olympics so it’s not really a hard sell for me. Then it was time for the poor NBC execs to explain how they are trying to pull their network from the gutter. They, for the most part, were candid. It at least sounds like they have a plan. One that begins with moving Jay,Conan and Jimmy once again. Their little experiment didn’t work. Now they have to try something new.
Brian Williams and NBC news was here. He’s my second favorite news anchor. I’m a big fan of Diane’s. Always will be. The gang from CAPRICA was here. I like the first two episodes of the season, but was a little iffy about it. Everyone tells me to hang until episode four where I’m assured I will be hooked. I’m telling you so you’ll know to give it a shot too.
Dance Your Ass Off, 9 By Design adn Work of Art: The Next Great Artist were here. I don’t mind Dance, but I’m really looking forward to Work of Art. You guys know how much I love art. I didn’t hate 9 by Design, but I would have liked it better if they focused more on design and less on the family aspect. They have 7 kids, and shows that feature kids like that bother me.
One show I will be watching Parenthood. As most of you know Maura T. has cancer and had to back out of the show. Lauren Graham replaced her. It gave Jason Katims and Ron Howard a chance to re-evaluate the original pilot and correct it. It’s tighter, better written show. It’s going on my DVR list. I laughed, I cried and I was moved. It’s the best thing NBC’s done in a really long time.
Parks and Rec with Amy Poehler and the gang was up and they made me laugh. I don’t watch the show, or I should say I didn’t. I will now. Like a lot of shows they’ve blossomed in the 2nd season. So now I have to check it out.
I wasn’t planning on staying for The Marriage Ref, but it was Jerry Seinfeld and that made me curious. By the time the presentation was over, I was hooked. It’s comedy feature funny things couples fight about. A celebrity panel will weigh in on who they think is right and then Tom Papa, The Ref, and one very funny guy makes the final call on who wins. It sounds like fun. But they had nothing to show us so I’ll have to give you the thumbs up or down later.
NBC finished their day with a stars party. I’d planned to go down for a few snacks, but ended up talking to several folks including Alison Sweeney, Adam Baldwin, Greg Daniels, Phyllis, Leslie and Oscar from the Office. I mentioned this earlier on Twitter and Facebook, but I Alison Sweeney gave me the best advice. Someone told her to just look at as five pounds. When people ask how much weight you have to lose, it’s 5 lbs. That big number can be overwhelming, so concentrate on that 5 lbs. Then move on to the next 5. THis is one of these things we know, but it clicked with me tonight.
I wasn’t feeling my best tonight, but hung around longer than I expected to at the party. Tomorrow is FOX so if you have questions… You know what to do. :)
