Standard

I have a new Christmas tree. For some reason this makes me really happy. We have to have fake trees because of allergies and our old one was beginning to look at bit Charlie Brown. We were looking through the trees and I picked out two. One was really thin and would fit in the living room without moving furniture. The other was fat and beautiful. My sugar was dropping as we stood there, and I told my husband he had to make an executive decision. He picked the most expensive, full tree of course. He has these issues about quality. :-) It’s beautiful and has led lights that are so soft and pretty.

I also went on a Target run for new Christmas CDs. Michael Buble, Taylor Swift, Diana Krall and one I can’t remember made it into the basket. I went in search of the new Mindy Smith Christmas CD, but they didn’t have it there. I may pretend to be fearless and try Best Buy tomorrow. :-)

Of course, I still haven’t bought a single Christmas present. Well, except for some art I bought my hubby in NM. But it’s not Dec yet, so I’m not worried. :-)

I woke up splotchy this morning. Turns out I’m allergic to the antibiotic they gave me last week. LOL. There comes a point where you just have to start laughing at stuff. My poor dad is taking care of my mom at the hospital 24/7, and then someone steals his AMEX card and tries to charge airline tickets from Dubai to NYC. He called me and asked if I let Sheik Azir borrow his card. :-) He’s reached the same point where we just laugh at everything now. Life has become so absurd.

Beginning the first of Dec. I’m going to give prizes away each month. Sometimes it will be books, other times it will be fun stuff I pick up on my travels. You know what you have to do to enter. :-)

I want to know what gets you in the mood for the holidays?

And for those of you who have been asking. My mom’s condition is unchanged, but she’s hanging in there. :-) Thanks so much for your prayers and happy thoughts. She can really use them. :-)

  1. Keeping my fingers crossed for mom.

Walking through NYC in the middle of the Christmas season get me in the holiday mood. There is just something about Rockafeller Center that makes even the crankiest Scrooge merry.

  2. Music is a big one to get me in the mood, as is putting up our tree and stockings. But oddly enough, when I go out shopping, I end up buying things for myself first. It’s like hey, there are all these things on sale and I avoid shopping for clothes or going to department stores as much as I can during the year unless the one kid I have that’s still growing has outgrown something.

My teenager can get a job and buy her own dang clothes.

  3. Music puts me in the mood. And the plethora of Christmas programs on TV.

Bronwyn needs to put a hex on the person who stole your dad’s AMEX card. :)

    Your mom’s in my prayers.
