Good News

Okay, first off, I need happy thoughts for my proposals that went to my editor today. I love everything I sent her and really, really want to write those books. :-) And the YA is making the rounds so think good thoughts there too.

A friend sent me a review for the new book “Charmed & Deadly” from Romantic Times Magazine and it’s a really good one. It received four and half stars, which is the best. Here’s what they said…

Bronwyn is back — and kicking major butt! Told in journal format with a snarky, humorous edge, the high witch’s adventures get more complicated and dangerous. Super-talented Havens keeps doing a bang-up job with this highly entertaining, magical series that’s just a tad offbeat and filled with unforgettable characters. Here’s to many more adventures with Bronwyn and the gang!
Summary: With great power comes great responsibility, and Bronwyn’s up to her ears in both as she tries to protect the prime minister and fend off a killer ex-boyfriend. Powerful as she is, Bronwyn’s used to winning her battles, but this time she’s up against something new.

When her mentor and friend, the wizard Garnout, is kidnapped, Bronwyn swears dire consequences against the culprit. Adding to her worries is the sudden disappearance of her brother and father. Desperate to find her missing friends and family, Bronwyn may find her powers stretched to the limit. (BERKLEY, Jun., 256 pp., $14.00) HOT

Isn’t that cool? :-)

So what are you guys reading? I just finished Season of the Witch by Natasha Mostert. Very interesting book, and different from what the title might imply. Cool read.

  1. Rock on, Candy!! I’m so excited! I can’t wait for it to come out!

Right now I”m actually reading a non-fiction book. “Better” by Dr. Atul Gawande. He’s amazing. I totally recommend his first book, “Complications”, which is a bunch of essays that kind of document occurrences in his surgical residency. If you like medical, stuff, you’ll really like his writings.

  2. That sounds so good!!! Can’t wait to read it!

I’ve been re-reading Shanna Swendson’s ENCHANTED INC. and ONCE UPON STILETTOS. I’m hoping my newly ordered copy of the third book DAMSEL UNDER STRESS will arrive tomorrow.

  3. I have SOTW on my wish list. And I read Allison Winn Scotch’s The Department of Lost and Found…it goes on sale next week and it’s just FAB FAB FAB!

    GOod luck with the proposals!

  4. First of all, many happy thoughts and good karma for the proposals! I can’t wait for the next Charmed installment.

I’m reading David Baldacci’s new release Simple Genius. I didn’t realize it was the third book that included the hero’s (a male and female who are partners and former Secret Service agents). I hate it when that happens… So, far it stands on its own, but now I need the two previous books! I so need to stop reading and finish writing.

  5. That is a fabulous review! And I agree with everything, especially the part about the “super-talented Havens.”
