I woke up with a head cold. It’s March. What’s that about? My throat feels like I’m swallowing glass. A little fever. I must get well overnight as tomorrow is Rosemary’s (Prom Dates from Hell) very first booksigning and I’m not missing it. I may have to stand in a corner with a mask, but I’m not missing it. :-)

So cold remedies… What do you do to knock them out fast?

And comfort foods? (Though I’m trying to be good about that)

  1. You know what works for me? The Nyquil, Dayquil combination. You take the Nyquil tonight and the Dayquil during the day. Surprisingly effective. I have made it through many a long back to back meeting day using them.

Feel better, Candy. I hope to see you tomorrow. My daughter is looking forward to buying Rosemary’s book.

BTW, my 17 year old is reading Charmed and Dangerous. I hope I get it back!!!

  2. Chicken porridge.

    For quick chicken porridge:

Heat chicken broth. Add salt to taste (remember that the addition of rice and your head cold will make it taste less salty).

Add as much cooked rice as you think you can finish.

Cook until the grains of rice break up. You may add an egg if you wish.

Serve with sliced spring onions on top.

  3. Potato Soup! Definite comfort food (potatos, ham, cheese, butter, carrots, half and half and milk) but won’t help you get well faster. Drink lots of water. Hope to see you this afternoon! I’ve already warned the kids but they’ll probably stay in Gamestop the whole time :)

  4. When I was sick, I doped up with NyQuil and slept for 20 hours. It helped. :)

And the booksigning was fun and the book was TOTALLY AWESOME. I couldn’t put it down. You were so right! :)
