PARTY TIME!

Standard

Parker made All-State Men’s Choir. After three tough auditions for district, region and area. And going thru 11 hours of hell today, MY KID PLACED 7TH CHAIR in the Texas All-State Choir. Can you believe it? This is the first time he’s really worked hard for something and he made it happen. I’m so incredibly proud of him. If you aren’t into the whole high school, all state thing, it would be like if your high school football team won the state championship, only it’s one kid doing his thing against a 1000 others. And he’s a sophomore going against juniors and seniors.

I’m still freaking out. I was with him for the last 24-hours and it was intense. I didn’t sleep at all last night because all of the kids were so nervous and I was nervous for them. We drove out to Abilene last night (3-hour drive) They got up at six this morning to be at the school by 7:30, and it didn’t end until six this evening. ARGH!

Okay, so the even better news is we took four kids down there for the competition and three placed and one became an alternate. Awesome kids and they have awesome teachers. Only 10 kids are picked for each section, Tenor, Bass, etc…

Okay… Sorry very proud mom moment here, but it really is one of my happiest moments ever to share with him. (One that will probably end abruptly when report cards arrive next week.) :-)

So what are you guys doing this weekend? I have to pack tomorrow for the long sojourn in L.A. I Leave first thing Monday morning. Oh, Geez… where did I put my e-ticket?

  1. Congratulations to Parker!! I’m very happy for both of you!

I certainly understand about district, area, and state as we go through the same thing with FFA competitions for my older daughter.

This weekend has been fun so far. Yesterday was Cookies Now! at the Fort Worth Zoo with the Girl Scouts. We picked up our younger daughters cookies and then spent a few hours at the zoo. My husband and I haven’t been there in almost 10 years and we really had a good time. We also got most of Christmas taken down. All that’s left is the Christmas tree today.

Have a fantastic time in LA! I very much look forward to your posts!

    Happy Sunday,
    Bonnie
