It’s Copy Edit Day

The copy edits for “Charmed & Deadly arrived this afternoon. (Did you see my head spin around?) I’ve never seen so many sticky flags in all my life. Like everything else I do, I have a system for dealing with this. First, I go through and check out each little flag. Most of the time it’s little things, like did you mean “pissy” or “crappy.” Seriously. Nothing to hard. Most of the time the copy editor is right, so I just say yes or stet or whatever it needs. I finished all the flags today.

Tomorrow, I’ll go through and read the whole thing and see if there are any bits I want to add. There were no writing revisions, just pickies. I will tell you I LOVE COPY EDITORS. They are the ones who make us look good along with our editors. They catch the silly things, left out words and always notice when things are out of line.

So copy edits are a headache, but it’s all for the greater good. Still, my brain hurts. Once I do a final read through, then I’ll look at every single change they marked just to make sure it all works.

Oh, they have the cover up for Charmed & Deadly on Go look and tell me wha

  1. I think the cover is GREAT!

I can’t wait for the next book. I am so happy and proud of you. So, since you wore leopard boots to coordinate with the release of “Charmed and Ready” does that mean at the “Charmed & Deadly” book signing you’ll have bright red glitter stilettos on? I’m thinking something Dorothy would have worn if the Wizard of OZ had an “R” rating. :) The bar is set pretty high this time… You better start shopping now!

  2. Good info since my copy edits are due first week of December, on at least one textbook chapter (of course now I would write it differently). Not as much fun, but I fear the edits.
