Busy

Standard

See, I always have a plan. Today, I was going to take a half a day off and just vegetate. The doctor said I needed to give my brain a rest and hangout. Catch up on the TIVO. At 11, my Agent called and said my editor wanted me to try something new with the project we are working on. Which basically means, back to the drawing board. At noon, my son called, and said his sinuses were worse and could we get a doc appt for this afternoon. (He did have a sinus infection. And a gross toe, that you totally don’t want to know about. Ick.) At 12:30 a publicist called and wanted to set up a series of interviews. At One I received an email reminding me that some stories were due earlier this week than usual. At 1:30, the fence guys arrived next door to start putting up a fence. Bang, bang… drill…

I gave up. :-)

People wonder why I write all the time? It’s easier, at least I don’t have to feel guilty about not picking up the phone if I’m “working.” :-) I slide in and out of these magical worlds and lose myself in someone else’s daily life and troubles. It’s way more fun than my own. I mean, I live in a pretty great world, but writing really is my only means of escape.

Even with the nonfiction, which has been totally fun the last few days. This week I’m working on stories about Tina Fey’s new show 30 Rock (Very Funny), Mr. T, and a new show called The Naked Trucker & T-Bones Show. And yes, he really is naked. I’m really glad I don’t have his job. It has to get so cold on those sound stages. And being a man, well, it has to be embarrassing at times.

Anyhoo, I’m off to read one of the books Hilary Sares sent me from Kensington on Monday. Knowing her, it will be smokin’ hot. :-) I’m just looking forward to once again losing myself in someone else’s world, and I didn’t even have to write it…
