Monday, June 13

Had a chance to meet the Naughty Girls over the weekend and what a fun group they are. They were in the Dallas Fort Worth area doing booksignings. My buddy Gena Showalter (You’ve got to pick up “Awaken Me Darkly”) was there. She’s such an awesome writer. And she was in great company. Shari Shattuck, Julie Kenner and Julie Leto were also signing. Great group of chicks who all write for Downtown Press. I’m such a dork though. Later that night, I realized I should have interviewed Shari. She’s an actress who used to be in daytime, and I could have put her in one of the columns. Soap fans always want to know what’s going on with their favorites. I’m reading her book, Lethal, and it’s awesome. Couldn’t put it down last night. Let’s see, last week I worked on stories about Anthony Michael Hall and his show “Dead Zone.” He’s a great guy. Michael Ian Black has a new show, “Stella,” coming up that’s so funny on Comedy Central. Did a story on him too. Oh, back to Showalter. When you buy “Awaken Me Darkly” check out her dedication and acknowledgements. She said something very funny about her parents. Total accident. It’s a good thing they have a sense of humor. For those of you in town, Saturday, June 15, from 2-4 p.m. my friend Britta Coleman is signing her debut novel, “Potter Springs.” Please beleive me when I tell you this chick can write. She’s beautiful, talented and sweet. If she weren’t one of my dearest friends I’d have to hate her. Pick up “Potter Springs.”

  1. Anthony Michael Hall

Hi, Candy, please forgive a perfect stranger from blundering into your lj. I’m a great fan of Anthony Michael Hall, and I google on him nearly every day. Today I found this lj entry mentioning AMH and the DZ.

I’d llooooovvvveee to hear anything more about the interview that you can share! Or at least where I can finally read it. I’ve had the great good fortune to meet him twice myself, and both times he was the epitome of courtesy, amiability, and kindness, signing many autographs for his fans, and posing for pictures after an emotional wrenching performance of The Exonerated. It was one of the highlights of my life.

Thanks for any consideration! Wishing you a good evening and much success on your book!
